As we celebrate another milestone in the annals of Africa Scouting, I
bring you greetings from the Africa Scout Committee. We are proud and
very grateful to our past leaders whose hard work, dedication and
commitment to Scouting made their efforts noticeable to the AU (then
OAU) as far back in 1995 almost two decades ago.
Generally as Scouts we have a duty to be of service to others, but as
Scouts of Africa we are even more challenged to accept the fact that we
are a social force and need to live up to the expectations of the
region.I salute all leaders and Scouts of African NSO’s and urge you to
reinforce your commitment especially in the light of the theme for the
celebration: “Educate, Transform, and Develop”.
To all leaders, I challenge you to stretch forth a hand to a young
one in getting him/her a good and sound education either through
guidance, direction or sponsorship. To the young people, you have a
challenge to get the best of education knowing that knowledge is power.
As young people, you will be called upon to assume various
responsibilities in your respective countries and therefore your
education constitutes a decisive stage in preparation for adult life.
Our region will transform, develop and be a force to reckon with if we
take education seriously, be it formal or informal.
I wish you all the best and a joyous Africa Scout Day celebration.
Jemima Nartey
Chairperson Africa Scout Committee.
